TOPIC: BE DISCERNING IN LEADERSHIP

[20]. He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

[21]. The wise in heart will be called prudent, and sweetness of the lips increases learning.

[22]. Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly.

[23]. The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.

[24]. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

[25]. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

EXPOSITION

In leadership, the decision to fill a position should not be taken lightly. It is better to leave a position vacant than to appoint the wrong person to it. Proverbs 16:25 warns us that what seems right may lead to destruction. Similarly, in leadership, who appears to be a suitable candidate may not always be the best choice. Choosing the right person for a role requires discernment and careful consideration. Rushing to fill a vacancy with someone who may not be the right fit can have detrimental consequences for the organisation, or ministry. It is essential to seek God's guidance and wisdom in every decision, especially those concerning leadership appointments.

Instead of rushing to fill a position, let us exercise patience for God's guidance. Trusting in His timing and wisdom, we can be assured He will provide the right person. Waiting allows for the suitable person to emerge, ensuring effective fulfilment of the role, and brings glory to God.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Grant me discernment, Oh Lord, to make wise leadership decisions.

2. Oh Lord, help me to seek Your guidance in all appointments, trusting in Your wisdom above my own.

3. May we wait patiently for Your perfect timing every time we need to put people in positions, in Jesus' name
