DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
DATE: Wednesday, April 2, 2005.
TOPIC: COMPLY, DON'T COMPLAIN (II)
MEMORISE : Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”(Jeremiah 3:6).
READ: Jeremiah 1:4-10
[4]. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
[5]. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
[6]. Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
[7]. But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
[8]. Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
[9]. Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
[10]. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.”
EXPOSITION
In Jeremiah's encounter with God, we witness a young man's reluctance to embrace the assignment God gave him. Just as in our discussion yesterday, in which we saw how Moses hesitated when called by God to lead His people out of Egypt. Both instances teach us that God's calling often surpasses our perceived limitations. Like God reassured Jeremiah of His presence and empowerment. He also assured Moses that He would be with him. God equips those He calls, regardless of their ages, experiences, or perceived abilities. Our roles are to trust in His provision and obey His commands.
Like Jeremiah and Moses, we may be tempted to make excuses about our inadequacies. However, God calls us to comply with His will rather than complain about our limitations. When we surrender to His plan and rely on His strength. He will enable us to fulfil His purposes in our lives. Therefore, embrace God's assignment for you with faith and obedience. Trust that He will equip you for every task He sets before you. He never fails.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

1. When we walk with the lord
In the light of his word
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey
2. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share
But our toil he doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4. But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the alter we lay;
For the favour He shows,
And the joy he bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do
Where He sends we will go
Never fear, only trust and obey.
Amen.
