TOPIC: EMBRACING GOD'S CREATION

MEMORISE; The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein (Psalm 24:1).

READ: Genesis 1:24

[24]. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.

EXPOSITION

Today is World Wildlife Day. It is therefore worth it to reflect on the awe-ingniting beauty and diversity of God's creation. In the beginning, God spoke into existence the majestic wildlife that roams the earth, each species a testament to His creativity and wisdom. What a great God! A honest perusal of the array of the display of His sovereign wisdom in Genesis 1 and 2 should elicit awe and wholehearted praise and worship from you (cf. Psa. 139:14,15).

Genesis 1:24 reminds us of God's intentional design, as He created every living creature according to its kind. From the graceful movements of the gazelle to the soaring majesty of eagles, each animal reflects a facet of God's glory. Psalm 24:1 reaffirms that the earth and all its inhabitants belong to Him.

As stewards of God's creation, therefore, it is our responsibility to cherish and protect the magnificent wildlife He has entrusted to our care.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Thank you, Lord, for the beauty and variety of wildlife. Help us to appreciate Your wonderful creation.

2. Lord, guide us as caretakers of the earth; give us the wisdom and compassion to preserve wildlife habitats.

3. Lord, as You help us see the challenges wildlife face (e.g. habitat loss and poaching), help us to get it right.
