THE LIVING WATER (January-December 2025)
DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

DATE: Wednesday February 19, 2025.
TOPIC: SELF EVALUATION (II)

MEMORISE
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed you are disqualified (2 Corinthians 13:5).

READ:
2 Corinthians. 13:1-6
[1]. This will be the third time I am coming to you. “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.”
[2]. I have told you before, and foretell as if I were present the second time, and now being absent I write to those who have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare—
[3]. since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who is not weak toward you, but mighty in you.
[4]. For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
[5]. Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
[6]. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.

EXPOSITION
Teachers recognise the importance of quality assessment in the curriculum. Quality assessment determines whether learning has occurred. When teachers and students fail to reason effectively, both sides suffer. Therefore, a thorough investigation is needed. Similarly, spiritual inquiry reflects doctrinal inquiry. Every believer should constantly reflect on his or her spiritual journey.
Dear reader, it pays to examine your life on a regular basis. Avoid being lured by flattery; some are good at giving insincere compliments, which prevents you from thinking objectively. Identifying them is still possible, even in the dark. It is important to recognise personal misdeeds; Perfection is God's will for us (Gen. 17:1; Heb. 6:1; 1 Pet. 1.15ff). Only through the guidance of the Holy Spirit can you accurately assess yourself. Don't be discouraged. May you find grace for self-EXPOSITION, in Jesus' name. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, help me assess myself honestly.
2. Today, I let go of pride that can make me not to be teachable, and incorrigible.
3. Pray that God would help us to cultivate objectivity, sincerity and love in our hearts towards one another, in Jesus' name.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 452
1. Just as God who reigns on high
Spake to men in days gone by,
So the Lord is calling men today,
And, my brother this is true,
Whatso-e'er He says to you
There is but one thing to do just obey
Chorus:
Just obey, just obey,
Is the way, God's way;
When His message comes to you
There is but one thing to do,
Just obey just obey.
2. If you're in the Saviour's hand,
You must do as He commands
For there is no other gospel way;
Never put the message by,
Never stop to reason why,
When the Saviour speaks to you, just obey.
3. If for mansions fair you sigh
In that land beyond the sky,
After time with you has pass'd away;
Tho' the way you may not see,
Christ is calling "Follow Me."
Faith and duty both will cry just obey.
Amen.
