TOPIC: RETREAT OR BE DEFEATED!
MEMORISE : But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
READ : Isaiah 40:30, 31
[30]. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall,
[31]. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
EXPOSITION
The saying, "A ram that retreats gains strength," is a truism in the battle of life, especially for believers when they withdraw from the busyness of life to seek God's face and specific guidance. Retreat is not defeat but a strategic move to reassemble, reorganise and rejuvenate. Jesus exemplified this by withdrawing for personal prayer, meditation and fellowship with the Father (Mk. 6:31-32). Likewise, believers benefit from personal retreats for renewal and refreshment.
Retreats offer energy renewal as we humbly wait on God, akin to an eagle shedding feathers to grow new ones and soar to greater heights. They provide spiritual strength like an athlete's rigorous training, enabling us to run without growing weary and walk without fainting. They also allow us to exchange our limited strength for God's inexhaustible power, ensuring victory over burnout and defeat. Embrace the power of retreat in your spiritual journey, gaining strength and resilience to face life's challenges.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, enable me to retreat and seek renewal in Your presence.
2. Grant me grace to rely solely on Your strength to overcome, Oh Lord.
3. Pray for CAC Music Department, the Director and the staff as led by the Spirit of God.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 729
1. Ho, reapers in the whitened harvest
Oft, feeble, faint, and few:
Come, wait upon the blessed Master,
Our strength He will renew.
For they that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings,
They shall mount up with wings as eagles
They shall run and not be weary
They shall walk and not faint;
They shall run and not be weary
They shall walk and not faint;
They shall run and not be weary
Shall walk and not faint.
2. Two oft a weary and discouraged,
We pour a sad complaint;
Believing in a living Saviour,
Why should we ever faint?
3. Rejoice! for He is with us always,
Lo, even to the end!
Look up! take courage and go forward
All needed grace He'll send!
Amen.
